The Manila leg of Seedstars has come to a close last August 15, 2018 and it was a success! Three of the eight startups that competed in the local competition have been chosen to represent the Philippines in Bangkok for the regional stage of the competition.
Held at the Acceler8 Coworking Space in Makati, Seedstars Manila is the local leg of a global competition that aims to help up and coming companies from all over the world with funding their startup and connecting them to the right people, whether they be customers or investors.
OneWatt, a startup that produces a non-intrusive way to monitor the health of electric motors in factories, helping detect machine failures before they even happen, emerged as the overall winner of the local competition. As prize, this company will be flying to Geneva, Switzerland where they will be competing with other startups from different countries in the annual Seedstars World Summit next year. In this conference, selected startups from all over the world will be pitching their ideas to an international audience and a jury for a chance to win US $500,000 worth of equity and other prizes.
AdMov, a specialized advertising system that uses facial recognition to create specialized ads in public transportation vehicles and ride sharing vehicles, landed in the second place of the competition, while Veer Immersive Technologies Inc., a company that offers virtual reality software and hardware that can be used for specialized training in any industry, placed third overall.
The other startups that participated in Seedstars Manila were TripClub, Taxumo Inc., FundLokal, Tripkada, and Pushkart.
The next step for the winner of Seedstars Manila is the mentorship program where they will be guided by some of the leaders and experts in entrepreneurship and the corporate world.
The next country on the itinerary of the Seedstars world tour is Thailand, where they will continue to look for more promising startup companies!
