Team Acceler8’s Tips on How to Beat the Heat

The summer season has officially started in the Philippines! This is the most awaited season for some Filipinos because it’s finally time to hit the beach again. While some people look forward to the start of summer, some people dread it because of the intense heat that it brings. Whether you love summer or not, you still need to stay cool during this dry season. Team Acceler8 prepared some tips on how to beat the heat, so you keep your cool while staying cool this summer.

Stay hydrated

Eco-friendly

Summertime this year is expected to be extra hot and dry because of the coming El Niño, that is why it’s important to stay hydrated at all times. During warmer seasons, your body loses more fluids than normal in an attempt to keep your body cool, which is why it is important to replenish these liquids as often as possible. Staying hydrated is also one way to keep your body temperature cool despite the raging heat. Drinking enough water is also really important during the summer to prevent your body from dehydration or from suffering from a heat stroke. This is the perfect time to invest in a trusty water bottle/tumbler that you can bring with you everywhere, at all times.

Wear “cool” clothes

The sun is out, the temperature is high, and you’re left wondering how to dress appropriately for the season. When dressing up for the summer, remember to put your comfort above anything else. You don’t have to sacrifice looking fashionable in the summer: just be conscious of the type of fabric you are wearing. Cotton, linen, and rayon are very breathable fabrics that you can wear during the hot weather. Clothes made from these fabrics are also very easy to match and style, so you can stay fashionable in the summer while still staying cool.

Take care of your skin

Staying for extended amounts of time under the summer sun can take its toll on your skin. Aside from the occasional sunburns from your beach trips, the UV rays from the sun might affect your skin in the long run. Take extra care of your skin this summer by applying sunblock, not just on your body, but also on your face; a daytime moisturizer with SPF will also work as well. At the end of a long day under the sun, refresh your skin by hydrating it using aloe vera gel. (Additional tip: If you want to be extra relaxed, put the gel in the fridge before using it for an additional cooling effect.)

Stay cool indoors
